Drive by comic reviews

One of the things that I wanted to do on this site is do reviews of comic books that I have read recently. As you can tell from the reviews that I have done so far, I am bit long winded, and have ended up not doing too many.

So I am going to try something new, and help my writing in the process. I am going to post a few quick reviews on some comics that I have read “recently” and see how it goes.

Here we go.

JLA #125: Last issue of the series, and like a lot of other people, I am not going to miss it. The title got kind of old with all the guest writers, and even the whole Crime Syndicate thing that Busiek wrote was tired. The Crisis of Conscience story was great, but the last arc with the Key was complete crap and I hated it.

Green Arrow #59: Judd Winick you are one ballsy SOB to end the arc like that. I loved it and hated it at the same time. I don’t know whether to hug you or kick you in the crotch. If I ever meet you, I might do both. After I get you to sign some comics of course. In any case, you are one hell of a writer and I can’t wait for the start of you you’re “One Year Later” (OYL) run with #60.

One little note before I continue. Would somebody write a story where Dr. Light gets his ass kicked?? HARD!! I can’t stand to look at his smug little face one more second!! Ever since Identity Crisis, he makes my skin crawl!!

Nightwing #117: I am not a religious man, but thank GOD that Devin Grayson has got her meaty claws off this title and the Nightwing character after this issue. She turned one of my favorite (if not THE favorite) characters and turned him into someone that should make and appearance on Dr. Phil. Nightwing has some heavy baggage thanks to her. I read an interview she gave for ComicBookResources.com about what she planned for Nightwing when she started down him down this path way back when, and how it was derailed when the whole Infinite Crisis thing came up. She claims that everything she did was approved, but I don’t care. I could go on and on about this one, its been bugging me for a while, but its has already been said before. Ding dong the witch is dead.

Outsiders #33: Whoooooa I think we lost the writer and artist somewhere on this one. They made crap craptastic here I have to tell you. The writing and art where so annoyingly bad that I couldn’t even remember what the last issue was about. Maybe I missed it somehow. Good thing we start fresh with Nightwing in the title again in the next OYL issue, or I would stop buying this comic right now. Bleeeh

Well there is the first installment, probably be more later today.
