No matter how you spin it, this shows once again that Bush LIED to America as he has done consistently since he has been in office.

When all this came up in the first place, Bush LIED by claiming not to know anything, forcing an investigation that I am sure cost taxpayers millions of dollars, when all he had to do was fess up to what he did.

Now here we are, three years later, with well over 2,000 American solders dead and a man facing jail time for doing what he was told.

WHY AREN’T BUSH AND CHENEY ON TRIAL!!!!

I will tell you why. They have made it clear that they are above the law, and so far no one has challenged them.

Bush acknowledges declassifying intelligence

Critics: White House should explain why information was released

WASHINGTON
(CNN) — President Bush said Monday that he had declassified
intelligence documents in 2003 to help explain his administration’s
reasons for going to war in Iraq.

“I thought it was important for people to get a better sense of what I was saying in my speeches,”
Bush said, answering a question from an audience member at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies in Washington. “And I felt I could do so without jeopardizing ongoing intelligence matters.”

Bush said he had authorized the release of the documents because some Americans questioned his reasons for going to war.

“So I wanted people to see the truth,” he said. “And I thought it made sense for people to see the truth.”

Court papers released last week said that a former aide to Dick Cheney, I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby, testified before a grand jury that the vice president told him in 2003 Bush had authorized the release of portions in the National Intelligence Estimate.

Libby, Cheney’s former chief of staff, is charged with perjury, obstruction of justice and lying to FBI agents investigating the exposure of a CIA operative, Valerie Plame Wilson. Plame’s husband, former ambassador Joseph Wilson, was a critic of the Iraq war.

Patrick Fitzgerald, prosecutor in the Libby case, wrote in the court papers that there was an effort by
“multiple” White House officials to “discredit, punish or seek revenge against” a critic of the Iraq war — a reference to Wilson.

The court documents do not suggest Bush approved the leaking of the agent’s identity.

On Sunday, Sen. Arlen Specter, a Pennsylvania Republican and chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, called on Bush and Cheney to tell the country “exactly what happened.”

“The president may be entirely in the clear, and it may turn out that he had the authority to make the
disclosures which were made, but that it was not the right way to go about it because we ought not to have leaks in government,” Specter told “Fox News Sunday.” “We ought not to have them.”

Also Sunday, on ABC’s “This Week,” Wilson urged the White House “to come clean.”

In the interview, Wilson called on Bush and Cheney to “release the transcripts of their testimony to the prosecutor.”

He added, “I’m not going to sit here and accuse the president of the United States of … betraying the national security of the country.”

Wilson told ABC, “When you selectively leak pieces of the National Intelligence Estimate, and when you attribute pieces in the body to key judgments, you are furthering that disinformation campaign. That’s what Mr. Libby did.”

In 2003, Wilson publicly questioned Bush’s assertion in a State of the Union address that Iraq had sought uranium from Niger for a nuclear weapons program.

The administration later acknowledged that U.S. intelligence did not back up the assertion
and that it should not have been included in the president’s speech.

Some U.S. intelligence at the time bolstered Wilson’s position that the uranium claim was not supported by evidence. But the information that the White House released, selected from the National Intelligence
Estimate, supported the administration’s stance.

Some Democratic critics have said the president approved leaking sensitive intelligence for political reasons despite repeated public pronouncements that he would punish anyone in his administration found to have leaked
classified information.

Questions also have arisen over when the documents officially became declassified.

While the White House points out that the president has the right to declassify information, White House spokesman Scott McClellan told reporters on July 18, 2003, that the documents had become declassified
that day — 10 days after Bush, according to the court papers, approved their release to the news media.

300

The fourth video journal is now online at the official website,
which the director describes as follows: “watch Costume Designer
Michael Wilkinson discuss the creative process involved in creating a
wardrobe inspired by the painterly pages of Frank Miller’s graphic
novel ’300.’”

SMALLVILLE

There’s an article in the Boston Herald
about actress Annette O’Toole getting more to do on this season’s show.
“Boy, are they writing for me,” O’Toole said. “I get to work so much
with John Glover. I’ve never seen anybody work so hard; he is such an
amazingly dedicated actor, an inspiration, and just so much fun. I do
feel bad about John Schneider, but it did free up this character in
(the producers’ and writers’) minds. I always felt there was potential
they didn’t tap into, but now they see her as her own person, not just
an extension of Jonathan’s fatherly ways.”

Meanwhile, our pals at Kryptonsite have the official network description of the April 27th episode “Fade.”

SPIDER-MAN 3

Sony Pictures has launched the official website for the web-spinning sequel, with a screen saver and wallpaper available.

In other news, the Plain Dealer talked about a casting call for extras in the Sam Raimi-helmed film.

TRANSFORMERS

Speaking of casting calls, Sneak Peek has information about what it takes to be a part of the Michael Bay-led production.

SUPERMAN RETURNS

Over at Brandon Routh’s unofficial fan site, there’s scans from the latest Entertainment Weekly showing Routh as Clark Kent and the Man of Steel. Also, Yahoo! News
has a piece with actress Kate Bosworth giving credit for her
involvement to a certain super villain. “Bryan Singer (the director)
… told Kevin [Spacey] they were looking to cast Lois Lane. Kevin told
him he had just worked with me and that he should take a look at the
film and see what he thinks. I feel like a huge part of why I got the
role was because of Kevin and how he put me forward.”

X-MEN 3

Superhero Hype
has some quotes from producer Lauren Shuler Donner, who talked about
grandiose plans for the franchise. “Our original goal was to have like
‘Star Wars,’” she said, “‘X-Men’ 7, 8, 9 and 10 because there are
certainly enough comics out there. And of course to have spin-offs. It
would be nice as we incorporated new characters into each movie if they
could continue to move on.” She confirmed “Wolverine” is underway but
would not say whether any characters would carry over. She also
discussed plans to adapt a property outside the Marvel stables. “”It’s
a DC comic,” she said. “It’s for Warner [Brother's]. It’s ‘Metal Men’
which is much more like ‘Men in Black.’ It’s miles away from ‘X-Men.’
It’s lighter and it’s fun. A lot of CGI. That would be fun for me to
try a whole did kind of comic.”

THE BATMAN

There’s a rumor floating around over at the Legions of Gotham message boards based on a letter from actor Robert Englund’s wife, claiming that Gotham City may not have seen the last of the Riddler.

JUSTICE LEAGUE

You can see three images from the series finale over at Comics Continuum.

CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW?

Here’s where you get in
on the action. Did you see a link we didn’t catch? Have you snuck into
a closed movie set, and have inside data? Maybe your cousin is dating
somebody who knows something, and they had to tell you? Whatever it is,
we wanna know it all — fire off an email
and let us know whether you want your name used or your contributions
to geekdom to go down anonymously. Broadcasting live from Los Angeles,
this is novelist/karaoke host/all-around lunatic Hannibal Tabu
saying thanks for your time and indulgence, and [tagline sent back to
development hell until something hipper can be dreamed up].
