BOYS IN GREEN: GIBBONS TALKS “GREEN LANTERN CORPS”

by Dave Richards, Staff Writer

This June, when DC Comics ongoing “Green Lantern Corps” series begins, writer Dave Gibbons and artist Patrick Gleason will be jumping ahead “One Year Later” and be taking readers many light years away from Earth and into the farthest corners of the galaxy. CBR News spoke with Gibbons about his plans for the Guardians’ elite force of emerald clad
ring slingers.

“Green Lantern Corps” #1 picks up one year after the events of the “Green Lantern Corps: Recharge“>Green Lantern Corps: Recharge” mini-series and in the intervening time, life on the Corps home world has changed. “Life on Oa is very different. Oa is very different,” Gibbons told CBR News. “Following the attack by the Spider Guild in ‘Recharge,’ the Guardians realized that just to have a naked little planet floating there in space was maybe a little foolish. So, they’ve taken steps to fortify it. Just how, you’ll see in the first issue and I wouldn’t want to spoil it.”

So ? who?s the team handling Action Comics come July?s issue #841?Well?the previously planned ?new? team for Action is still coming, but still, there is a new team for Action in July.

Someone old and someone new?

For three issues, #841-#843, Kurt Busiek (co-writer of the currently running ?Up Up and Away!? arc in Superman and Action)
and Fabian Nicieza will join with artist Pete Woods for ?Back in

As an aside, the Action gig places Busiek on two Superman

Pacheco as the regular creative team on Superman.

GHOST RIDER, 30 DAYS OF NIGHT, 300, X-MEN 3: APRIL 14TH COMIC REEL WRAP

by Hannibal Tabu, Staff Writer

GHOST RIDER

According to Vancouver 24 Hours,
“Nicolas Cage, Peter Fonda and Sam Elliot were making the fantasy flick
Ghost Rider south of the border, but Vancouver has been chosen as the
location for last-minute reshoots.” By “south of the border,” of
course, they meant “in Australia.” Oh, Canadia … anyhoo, “Ghost
Rider” is scheduled for a February 16, 2007 release.

30 DAYS OF NIGHT

Director David Slade told Zap2It
that filming of the Steve Niles adaptation will probably begin in July.
“There is a degree of responsibility to Ben Templesmith’s artwork,
which will be reflected in the production design, absolutely,” Slade
said. “There were three drafts written before I came to this project,
and I believe that Brian’s draft is the most faithful to Steve Niles’
writing, and Steve has been in the loop.”

300

Warner Brothers has updated the official official website with a new item in the production blog, as well as new concept art.

X-MEN 3

Director Brett Ratner is quoted by USA Today
giving high praise to Ellen Page as Kitty Pryde. “She’s the most
chameleon-like actress I’ve ever met,” Ratner told the publication.
“She’s a shy person, until she wants to become something else.”

“The thing I like about
acting is being able to lose yourself completely in someone else,” Page
said. “I’m not that comfortable when I get recognized.”

Meanwhile, MSN Video has posted a behind-the-scenes look at the production from last December, speaking with actress Famke Janssen, producer Ralph Winter and director Ratner himself.

Finally, the XVerse has the possibly spoilery plot summary of the novelization of the film.

JUSTICE LEAGUE

Comics Continuum
has a boatload of screen captures and quotes from story editor Dwayne
McDuffie about this Saturday’s time travel-centric episode.

SMALLVILLE

Recent episodes made mention of a Project Mercury blog, and those wacky kids at the network went ahead and made it a reality complete with a video clip about the quest for the good professor.

Meanwhile, our pals at Kryptonsite have both the TV Guide and network description of the May 4th episode “Oracle,” as well as high resolution screen captures of next week’s episode, “Mercy.” Finally, rival site Devoted to Smallville has the actual trailer in Windows Media format.

THAT’S A WRAP

Here’s where you get in
on the action. Did you see a link we didn’t catch? Have you snuck into
a closed movie set, and have inside data? Maybe your cousin is dating
somebody who knows something, and they had to tell you? Whatever it is,
we wanna know it all — fire off an email
and let us know whether you want your name used or your contributions
to geekdom to go down anonymously. Broadcasting live from Los Angeles,
this is novelist/karaoke host/all-around lunatic Hannibal Tabu saying thanks for your time and indulgence, did you catch the fresh comics reviews yesterday, and [tagline sent back to development hell until something hipper can be dreamed up].
