I didn’t care for the Beat’s comments, so I linked to this post instead.  New show looks pretty interesting, looking forward to it.

Animated LSH news 37: new logo, licensing info

Here’s what the Legion looks like at the Warner Bros. booth at this week’s 2006 Licensing Show in NYC:

Check out The BEAT for more pictures.

From the show’s web site:

Licensing
International is the premier annual trade event for the licensing
industry where owners and agents of intellectual properties showcase
their brands to 23,000+ high-profile retailers, licensees, and
promotional partners. You’ll sign exclusive deals, strategize with
retailers, solidify promotional partnerships, and network with an
unparalleled community of licensing professionals from around the world.

Judging by what they’ve done with the Teen Titans, I expect an onslaught of Legion licensed stuff.

Update: Ain’t It Cool News has another picture (with different lighting), along with some interesting reader comments.

Long Live the Legion!

The Home of All Things Legion – Superboy Out of the Legion Cartoon?

Seen this news on the Legion Omnicom too, it should be interesting to see how it plays out.

Animated NewsTake this for what it is, a post on a message board. But SouthtownKid over at Legion World says that he met and spoke with someone involved with the Legion cartoon recently.

I met and talked to someone who works in connection to the show yesterday, and have some good news and bad news:

Firstly,
the art style of the show is supposedly closer to the Bruce Timm DCAU
style than the promo art we’ve seen so far. That’s neither good nor bad
for me, because I like both…but I’m sure some people will be happy.

The bad news is that due to losing the lawsuit with the Seigel and Schuster heirs, DC can’t use the name ‘Superboy’ in the show.

At all.

So
all the episodes completed up to this point have had to be re-dubbed,
calling the character ‘Superman.’ Apparantly, there is even some
discussion as to whether the character now is even Superman as a
boy…or if he will be an adult Superman who has been de-aged somehow.
Yeesh, I hope that doesn’t happen.

The good news is that we
should be seeing the series around September. Also, there is a full toy
line in the works from Mattel…can’t wait for that.

To my
knowledge, the Siegel heirs (and only the Siegels as he owned the sole
copyright to Superboy when he sold it to DC back in 1947) only won a
summary judgement that Warner Bros. immediately appealed. There has
been no news of any new rulings or judgements since March. If they are
actually going through the expense of redubbing episodes already in the
can (which is probably the whole of the initial 13 episodes) then
something major happened that hasn’t broke yet.

And we already knew when the cartoon would air (including time) and that figures were in the works . I guess some people just don’t read my posts. :)

DRUGS AND LUCHADOR MASKS? BEDARD TALKS “JSA CLASSIFIED: THE VENOM CONNECTION”

by Dave Richards, Staff Writer

Posted: June 21, 2006
Not
everyone in the DC Universe is gifted with super powers. Some use
gadgets or expert training to make up for their lack of fantastic
abilities. Others are not content and use chemical compounds like
Miraclo and Venom to temporarily endow themselves with metahuman
abilities. This September, the JSA’s Hourman and Bane, the man who
broke Batman’s back, the DC Universe’s two most prominent chemically
powered characters, will clash in the pages of “The Venom Connection,”
a two-part story that begins in “JSA Classified” #17. CBR News spoke
with writer Tony Bedard about the story.

One for Rod Trent

ARMY OF DARKNESS #8 – NEWSARAMA

ARMY OF DARKNESS #8

He’s fought Deadites to a standstill and them some, and now, Ash takes on…monsters.

Not just any “monsters,” but “the” monsters – joined together by Dracula into a force that’s aiming to take over the world.

The battle begins in this week’s Army of Darkness #8, and Dynamite has provided Newsarama with a five page preview.

The solicitation for the issue reads:

BY JAMES KUHORIC (WRITER); KEVIN SHARPE (ARTIST); (COVER ART SHIPPING
IN EQUAL RATIO): TONY MOORE, JAE (DARK TOWER) LEE, NICK BRADSHAW and
GUISEPPE “CAMO” CAMUNCOLI!

He’s dismembered Deadites in every form but never faced a creature born
of undead legend. Gathered from the darkest and most remote corners of
the globe, the monsters have assembled under the vengeful hand of
Dracula to lay siege to the new world. New York is being bled dry by a
plague of vampires and Ash must battle the inner wolf, the soulless
man, the curse of the ancients, and the Prince of Blood himself before
they turn the city that never sleeps into a hotbed of the living dead.
Only a bumbling second fiddle monster hunter and our own chainsaw
wielding hero can recover the artifact with the power to destroy the
vampires forever. But Ash’s disbelief in the monsters of old may be the
gateway to his downfall and their ultimate victory. Grab your crucifix
and the spare shotgun shells — this is one over-the-top monster mash
you don’t want to miss! Also features the first appearance of Dracula’s
daughter — don’t miss it!
