Posted by Chris Mosby on 27th February 2007

SUPERMAN CONTENT CHANGES; DANIEL ON THE FLASH OFFICIAL

    Press Release

NEW SERIES ARTIST TONY DANIEL PENCILS THE FLASH: THE FASTEST MAN ALIVE #11

Acclaimed artist Tony Daniel (TEEN TITANS) steps in to
pencil THE FLASH: THE FASTEST MAN ALIVE #11 (FEB070274), written by
Marc Guggenheim and inked by Art Thibert. Daniel will remain on THE
FLASH as the new series penciller.

In this story, called “Full Throttle,” the top Rogues are united by one voice to take down the Flash - but who is it?

“I’m looking forward to working on THE FLASH with Marc Guggenheim, who
I think is a very gifted and unique up-and-coming writer destined for
big success,” says Daniel. “I’ve always been a huge Bart Allen fan and
The Flash is one of the most recognized DC icons. ‘A’ game, here I
    come!”

Also, DC Comics has added a variant cover by Daniel to issue #11, which
retailers will receive in a split of approximately 50/50 with the
solicited cover by Ethan Van Sciver.

THE FLASH: THE FASTEST MAN ALIVE #11 (FEB070274) is solicited in the
February Previews (Volume XVII #2) and is scheduled to arrive in stores

    28. Retailers may adjust orders on it through the Final Order Cutoff
    date of March 8.

SUPERMAN #662 (JAN070269) now will feature the start of the 5-part

NEAL ADAMS TEAMS WITH FRANK MILLER FOR BATMAN - NEWSARAMA

Posted by Chris Mosby on 27th February 2007

    SWEET!!

NEAL ADAMS TEAMS WITH FRANK MILLER FOR BATMAN - NEWSARAMA

NEAL ADAMS TEAMS WITH FRANK MILLER FOR BATMAN

    In
talking with ComicMix’s Mike Raub, Neal Adams confirmed not only that
he is working with Frank Miller on a Batman project, but moreso, the
title of the miniseries is Batman: Odyssey, and will run,
according to Adams, between six and eight issues. Adams created, plots,
and pencils (and inks issues #1-#2), while Miller is scripting. Adams
reportedly had the full pencils and inks on display at the New York
    Comic Con.

“Essentially, it’s sort of an epic story of Batman,” Adams said on the ComicMix podcast
(at roughly 2:00 in). “Frank Miller has agreed to dialogue it for me,
and I’m probably going to ink a couple of the books, but we’re going to
get some other inkers to do it who’ve sort of been champing at the bit
to ink my stuff over the years, and now they’re going to get their shot.

“In my mind, it was going to be six issues, but I really can’t make it
less than eight issues, so I’m going to do eight issues, even if I have
to do two for free – I’m just kidding.”

When asked for more information on, or a confirmation of the series by Newsarama, DC declined comment.

Miller and Adams had long been rumored to be working together on some Batman project, though speculation most recently ran towards Adams penciling the second arc of All Star Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder.

Host planned power outage on Sunday

Posted by Chris Mosby on 23rd February 2007

I just wanted to let everyone know about this, since it will more than likely make this blog and the Weblog Updates page unavilable for a while on Sunday.

    Planned Power Outage

We were just informed one hour ago from our building management that an emergency maintenance window is scheduled for this Saturday morning, February 24th, at 1AM PST. UPDATE! The building has just changed the window to be 23 hours later.. it is now scheduled for Sunday morning, February 25th, at 12:01AM PST. This maintenance window involves taking our entire building’s power offline for approximately 3 hours. The word from the building:

It was discovered by ABM Engineering during the power monitoring
equipment installation, that a Phase C Conductor Cable on UPS #4
has been compromised to the point that immediate action to
repair it is necessary or a ground fault will occur to the building
    systems.

Since only one of our three data centers is losing power, not all servers will be shut down. Unfortunately, our core routers and our upstream providers are in that data center, so there will be no network to any servers during the window. Gaah.

Since we have advanced (albeit limited) warning of this event, we will be onhand to physically power off all of our equipment at 11:15PM PST. Barring any unforeseen issues (on our end or the building engineer’s) we plan on having everything back up by 4AM PST, hopefully much sooner.

This outage will affect everyone’s sites and email. Email sent to our customers during this outage will be deferred on the sending server and will be delivered after service is restored.

We apologize for the inconvenience this no doubt causes, as well as for the short notice. We will be posting updates as possible during the outage.

WARNER BROS STARTS JUSTICE LEAGUE FILM PROJECT - NEWSARAMA

Posted by Chris Mosby on 23rd February 2007

    DOH!

WARNER BROS STARTS JUSTICE LEAGUE FILM PROJECT - NEWSARAMA

WARNER BROS STARTS JUSTICE LEAGUE FILM PROJECT

    Holy cow, Batman.

As comic book movies have proliferated over the past few years, comic
fans have begun to wonder – when will we start seeing the team-based
films? As Marvel’s X-Men films have shown, putting more than one super-powered character into a film can work…but what about the icons joining up?

    Possibly sooner than expected.

According to Variety Warner Bros. is looking to produce a Justice League movie, and has hired Kiernan and Michele Mulroney to pen the script. After rumors of a possible Batman vs. Superman film this is the first actual news that the studio is looking to make a feature based on more than one hero.

As the trade reported/speculated, such a film would certainly include
some blend of DC Comics’ iconic heroes, rather than wholly B-listers.

“The Justice League of America has been a perennial favorite for
generations of fans, and we believe their appeal to film audiences will
be as strong and diverse as the characters themselves,” Warner
President of production Jeff Robinov said in announcing the hiring of
    the Mulroneys.

As Variety mentioned, and fans will surely begin to
discuss, such a film has many complicating issues inherent, such as
cast – will Warner Bros, if they include Superman and Batman in the
mix, cast Brandon Routh and Christian Bale – their current Superman and
Batman, or will they re-cast the roles for this project (as each
approach would come with budgetary considerations)? Will the film
version of the Justice League be connected to the heroes’ solo films?
Where does the film take place in the heroes’ lives, and the team’s
timeline? How will a Justice League film coordinate among all of the
production teams working on the various individual properties?

While the Justice League has starred in a handful of their own animated
television series over the years, the idea has been tested out in a
live action manner, in Warners’ Smallville,
which has featured a growing list of other young heroes (Green Arrow,
Cyborg, Flash, Aquaman, along with a young Superman) in guest
appearances, which culminated in the episode entitled “Justice.”

If the potential problems can be hammered out, the inclusion of a
Justice League film franchise would add a major player to Warner Bros.
superhero film slate, which already has a Batman sequel set for a 2008
release, and a Superman sequel for 2009, with Wonder Woman trying to
    get off the starting blocks.

And of course, the Justice League may not be the only team in town –
Marvel has previously announced their intent to produce a film based on
it’s premiere super-team, The Avengers. Although, Marvel has said it
would like to see an Avengers film occur after Iron Man, Thor and
Captain America have their own individual film franchises launched.
