DC’s Countdown: What we know so far…

OK, I have read through the articles\interviews that have come out about Countdown so far, and here is a summary. Let me know if I missed anything.
- Series will start one week after 52 ends, on 5/9/2007. (But it will be $2.99 instead of $2.50)
- This series will be “where s–t blows up” (An obvious attempt to bring in Marvel Comics fans)
- Main characters will be Jimmy Olsen and Mary Marvel. Kyle Rayner, Donna Troy, and Jason Todd playing some role; but to what extent wasn’t given.
- One Dan Didio’s goals is to revive/redo/modernize (depends on how it turns out) Kirby’s Fourth World characters, who have been absent from DC Comics for a while.
- Head writer is Paul Dini (big picture) and editor is going to be Mike Mart, with other writers brought in to write individual issues. First up is Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray (ewww), Adam Beechem (Nice!), Sean McKeever, and Tony Bedard (way cool!).
- Series will be set in present time, but not day-to-day\week-to-week like 52
- What is the series counting down to? Dan Didio: “It’s pretty simple – we’re counting down to the next big event at DC Comics” Paul Dini: “It’s counting down to me going insane. And it’s counting down to one of the biggest events that could ever conceivably be part of the DC Universe. I’m going to leave it vague on that.“
It is going to be interesting to see how this turns out.
