ATOMIC AVENUE LAUNCHES MARCH 2ND
Press ReleaseLooking to track down that elusive NM copy of Batman #450?
Or are you surrounded by excess comics that you’d love to convert into
cash? A new web site, Atomic Avenue (www.atomicavenue.com)
helps solve both problems. It creates a vast online comic book
marketplace, making it easy for collectors to locate even the most
obscure comics at affordable, fixed prices. It also allows users of
popular collection management software ComicBase to post their own
comics—or even their entire collections—for sale with just a few
clicks.Atomic Avenue acts as a giant clearinghouse where people looking to
sell their extra comics can be matched with collectors searching for
that hard-to-find item. Whether your interest is mainstream
super-heroes or obscure undergrounds, Atomic Avenue lets you quickly
locate the comics you’ve been searching for, and even take your pick of
conditions (and prices) offered by the various sellers. It lets you
find exactly what you want at a reasonable price—and without all the
hassle and uncertainty of online auctions.Atomic Avenue also democratizes the selling process, effectively giving
any user of ComicBase 10 or later his or her own online store. Simply
by using a new Sell command, they can instantly post tens of thousands
of comics for sale in seconds, at the prices they’ve specified. They
pay no listing fees, and only a small commission (about 85¢ on a
typical $5.00 sale) when an item sells. There are no credit card
charges or other fees, and the buyer pays for shipping. When a book
sells, the seller is automatically notified whom to ship it to, and
their bank account is credited for the sales price less commission two
weeks after the book ships.“We’re looking to revolutionize the way comics are bought and sold”
says Atomic Avenue’s Peter Bickford. “Right now, too many of us
collectors are going crazy looking for the comics we love, while at the
same time, we despair of ever getting a fair price when we sell our
books. With Atomic Avenue, we plan to change all that and make comic
collecting fun again.”Officially rolling out as a “public beta,” Atomic Avenue becomes open to the public on March 2nd. For more information, visit www.atomicavenue.com
