The Firefighters 4 Kids program started in 1977 when a couple of medics went on a run at a low income home and noticed that the family
did not have enough money to buy their children presents. They were able to help them out that Christmas and then launch the program that
helps thousand of children each year. Firefighters 4 Kids started off in the basement of the Columbus Fire Department’s old Training
Academy. It was moved to a firefighter’s garage the following year. Today it is operated out of a warehouse in the south end of
Columbus where last year, they were able to distribute toys to over 10,000 children.

The Skiffytown League of Heroes is an online interstate group of  individuals who share a creative bond in the realms of fan fiction
and art. The group came together and met at various auditions throughout the country for the Sci Fi Channel’s Who Wants To Be A
Superhero?. The core group all auditioned for season 2, but with its popularity, new members with the same desires continue to join
everyday. Many members of this online community act as good will ambassadors, taking the characters they created and bringing them to
life at various functions in support of different charities and community programs throughout the country. Though they set out as
individuals originally, they have joined together and have organized gatherings or “round up’s” throughout the country, ranging from
Texas, to Atlanta, Phoenix and now Columbus, Ohio for Mid-Ohio-Con.

This special toy drive will take place on one day only, Sunday November 25, from 10am to 4pm. The main entrance to Battelle Hall is
