by CBR News Team, Editor
Posted: December 19, 2007 — More From This AuthorBilled as the best new book of the 21st century, Mark Millar and John Romita, Jr.’s “Kick-Ass” limited series from Icon is beginning its promotional push to prominence with an exclusive campaign on MySpace.com. That’s right, the creators are taking the concept of the “real-life superhero” to its next logical step and giving him a MySpace profile, which Millar promises will be an integral part of the story.
“This is where all our promotional material will be appearing,” Millar said in a statement. “The PR campaign kicks off in earnest early in the New Year with a major announcement in January and another the week before the first issue launches. This site also offers a chance for other amateur, real-life superheroes to interact with Kick-Ass (or any savvy comic-book creators hoping to promote their work.”
Millar and Romita fans can get their first glimpse of the title hero in an 11-page “Kick-Ass” preview is presently available on the official MySpace profile.
“Kick-Ass” #1 is set to ship in February, 2008 from Icon.

KG: Well, let’s see. It might be of interest to a small group of fans out there that, in this Wildstorm/DC crossover, I will – probably for the final time for the foreseeable future – be returning to the Legion of Super-Heroes.
NRAMA: Wait, so you’ll be writing the Legion of Super-Heroes as part of this crossover?
KG: Yeah.

KEITH GIFFEN’S DC DAYS TO COME
by Vaneta RogersWhen Newsarama reported that Keith Giffen had signed an exclusive contract with DC Comics, the mystery wasn’t so much why, but what he’d be doing.
With more than 20 years of experience in the comic book industry, the creator has most recently been a driving force behind DC’s weeklies as he did breakdowns for both 52 and Countdown, while also cranking out his own projects like Blue Beetle, Midnighter, 52 Aftermath: The Four Horsemen and even Annihilation for Marvel Comics. But when the DC exclusive was announced, Giffen said he was done with weeklies and instead had a few new projects coming.
Last week, in the back of most DC Comics, Dan Didio teased some of those new Giffen-created projects in his weekly DC Nation column. According to the Didio, Giffen will, “continue to juggle the many worlds of the Multiverse in Countdown to Infinite Crisis; handle breakdowns for The War that Time Forgot; create the ultimate Wildstorm/DCU crossover; set up a war for control of Hell …; and because Jann Jones kept bugging, make a return trip to one of his most popular characters.”
Quite the list. And as buzz grew about the projects, we decided to go straight to Giffen himself and find out more.
