4 Days till vacation…
and I am really finding it hard to get the motivation to do anything at work.
Last week was a real pain in the ass with just about every little thing that could go wrong did just that. Most of it was blamed on the system I manage whether it had anything to do with it or not. You would think I would get used to that after all these years working with SMS/ConfigMgr, but it just gets old really fast.
Even most of the other IT people that I work with, let alone the users they manage; have so little of a clue of how what I do works. Its like I am the town wizard and the system I manage is my pet dragon, that may sneeze or belch at any moment and burn down the local tavern and all in it.
Don’t get me wrong, I know that what I manage has its issues. Anything that is complicated as ConfigMgr is bound to have its quirks with unexpected results. Its when it gets blamed for stuff that it obviously didn’t do that drives me up the wall. The fact that that most people dont really know how it works just makes it an easier target. I just get tired of having to defend what I do just about every day.
After a while of griping I realize that I am lucky to still have a job in this economy, and overall I have it pretty easy and get paid well for what I do, when I actually get to do it. Ok, enough whining.
