Cabonauts To Premiere At Chicago Comic Con

A few weeks back we reported on a new web series titled Cabonauts, which is an Evil Global Production.

The series can boast an unusual premise in that it is being billed as the worlds first Science Fiction Comedy/Musical Web series, and also has some incredible guest stars lined up.

Fans lucky enough to be in attendance at this weekends Chicago Comic Con will be treated to the worlds first screening of the opening episode, and series creator and Star Hayden Black will be in attendance with fellow cast member the legendary Nichelle Nichols to answer questions about the series and sign autographs.

Incidentally, Hayden Black will also be our special guest this Sunday on SciFiPulse Radio. So if you’d like to learn more about the series and learn a bit more about what it takes to produce entertainment for the internet then feel free to tune in.

‘Iron Man 2′ Updates And Green Lantern Sketches In Today’s Twitter Report

Iron Man 2I could probably dedicate this feature solely toward cataloging comics creators’ late-hour work tweets. They were legion last night, and I even slipped one into today’s Twitter Report featuring the sage words of Paul Pope. Dedicated Twitterer Jon Favreau also showed up in our feed with an update about the editing process for “Iron Man 2.”

There’s been a lively discussion about pizza bouncing around comics industry Twitter accounts over the last 48 hours. On a less controversial note, though, the Wizard World Chicago Comic-Con show will host an auction to benefit one of comics’ most prolific writers, John Ostrander, and his fellow scribe Ron Marz tweeted a sample Green Lantern sketch that will be among the works available Sunday on the auction block.

Back on the subject of hard work, however, I’d like to include a note of public congratulations to Jon Rosenberg, who tweeted that he’s now passed the 2500-strip mark for his webcomic “Goats.” Check out all of that and more in this Twitter Report for August 5, 2009.

August 6, 2009 — Chicago Comic-Con returns from August 6-9 with a lineup guaranteed to impress pop culture fans everywhere.

“This year’s lineup of talent is by far our largest and we have brought out guests for people of all ages,” said Wizard CEO Gareb Shamus. “We listened to our fans who told us exactly what they wanted, and we feel this is what we are giving them. Over 600 guests in all, an incredible number.”

This year’s show includes a host of celebrity guests including “Twilight” stars Cameron Bright, Alex Meraz, & Christopher Heyerdahl, Academy Award Nominee Edward James Olmos, the “Stand & Deliver” and “Battlestar Galactica” star, the stunning Michelle Rodriguez from “The Fast and the Furious,” Ray Park, Snake Eyes, in the new G.I. Joe film (also Darth Maul from Star Wars), UFC former Heavyweight Champion Andrei “the Pitbull” Arlovski, “Hellboy II” and “Blade 2″ star Luke Goss; “Baywatch” actress Donna D’Errico; “Star Wars” actor Billy Dee Williams; “The Incredible Hulk,” Lou Ferrigno, and “Ghostbusters” star Ernie Hudson.

Also scheduled to appear are actresses Margot Kidder, pop star Taylor Dayne and “Buffy: The Vampire Slayer” star Emma Caulfield.

The convention features selections from every corner of the pop-culture world, including movies, TV, toys, comics, video games, anime, manga, sci-fi, horror, WWE, MMA and other forms of entertainment – along with video game tournaments and costume contests.

All fans attending the show are encouraged to come dressed as their favorite character, with an opportunity to win thousands of dollars in cash and prizes. Top entries also will reach millions of fans via Wizard Magazine, wizarduniverse.com and wizardworld.com as well as other fan web sites.

The convention opens with a special preview night beginning at 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, and continues through the weekend of August 7-9, beginning each day at 10 a.m. (9 a.m. for Advance Ticket Buyers.) Jill Thompson, Comicbook artist

Jill Thompson is one of the most well-known, female comicbook artists working in the comics industry today. She graduated in 1987 from the American Academy of Art in Chicago and has been working non-stop as a cartoonist and illustrator ever since. She has garnered acclaim for her work on WONDER WOMAN, and the award winning title SANDMAN with Neil Gaiman. A multiple EISNER AWARD winner, Jill writes and illustrates most of the work she produces today. She has co-created and illustrated the dark-satire FINALS in 1999 and has also written and illustrated manga style books for DC COMICS called AT DEATH’S DOOR and THE DEAD BOY DETECTIVES.

She has illustrated books for nearly every comic book publisher in the United States.

In 1997, Jill’s first children’s graphic novel, THE SCARY GODMOTHER was released to critical acclaim and the film and tv rights were optioned in 1999 by Mainframe Entertainment. Subsequent books in the series include Scary Godmother-The Revenge of Jimmy, Scary Godmother-The Mystery Date and Scary Godmother- The Boo Flu.
