City of Heroes Double XP weekend!

Posted by Chris Mosby on 15th June 2007

If you are still playing City of Heroes, or are thinking about getting back in now is a good time to rack up some serious XP!!

I got back in after a free weekend when Issue 9 was introduced, and Hanford Man ended up becoming the leader of a Super Group he was in since there wasn’t any other active players. :-O

What is even better is the Group Base is well stocked with all kinds of goodies, which I have heavily added too to make it a pretty damn cool base.  I even have a Invention Workbench and a access point to the Personal Vault for Invention Storage.

So if you are over on the Victory server and want to team up sometime this weekend, give Hanford Man a tell.  I will be on as much as I can this weekend.

TOM DeSANTO LOOKING TO ADAPT CITY OF HEROES - NEWSARAMA

Posted by Chris Mosby on 7th June 2007

    SWEET!!

TOM DeSANTO LOOKING TO ADAPT CITY OF HEROES - NEWSARAMA

TOM DeSANTO LOOKING TO ADAPT CITY OF HEROES

    There
are pundits and analysts who say that the age of superhero movie
tie-ins are over, and coming up, Hollywood will turn its collective eye
towards video game properties when it looks to turn a property into a
    movie.

Well, the future will hold what it will, but in the meantime, a project
that crosses both is getting a nod from producer Tom DeSanto.

According to Variety, after Transformers, DeSanto is turning his attention to NCsoft and Cryptic Studio’s City of Heroes
videogame, and is loking to turn the massively multiplayer online
role-playing game into a live-action feature film and then transition
    it into television.

While the game (as well as its companion, City fo Villains)
has rocketed in popularity due to players ability to design and then
use their own superheroes in the fictional Paragon City, the
film/television version will follow the adventures of NCsoft/Cryptic’s
established characters who join together to fight off an alien
    invasion.

    According to the trade:

DeSanto sparked to the project because it offered “one-stop
shopping” for characters and plots. “You also haven’t seen a big
superheroes vs. aliens movie,” he said. “I see this as the next big
    superhero franchise.”

DeSanto’s superhero cred is strong, as he was the executive producer on both X-Men and X2, and is a writer and producer on the upcoming Teen Titans: The Judas Contract straight to DVD animated feature based on the DC Comics story from The New Teen Titans.

Newsarama readers will recall that NCsoft/Cryptic was sued by Marvel
due to what the comic book publisher felt was the game publisher’s use
of characters that infringed upon established Marvel characters, as
well as the character design toolbox, which, Marvel alleged, allowed
players to create characters which were virtually identical to Marvel
    characters.

The two settled the issue, and in September of last year announced that, together with Microsoft, the two companies were working together to develop a Marvel-based MMO.

OCCULT CRIMES TASKFORCE, SPIDER-MAN 3, 300, INVINCIBLE: SEPTEMBER 27TH COMIC REEL WRAP - Comic Book Resources

    An Invinicble movie?? AWESOME!!!

OCCULT CRIMES TASKFORCE, SPIDER-MAN 3, 300, INVINCIBLE: SEPTEMBER 27TH COMIC REEL WRAP

    by Hannibal Tabu, Staff Writer

    Posted: September 27, 2006

    OCCULT CRIMES TASKFORCEVariety is reporting
(subscription required) that Dimension Films has acquired movie rights
to “O.C.T.: Occult Crimes Taskforce,” an Image Comics series that
launched in July. Creator Rosario Dawson will produce as well as star
    in the film.
    SPIDER-MAN 3

Reader Bruce Kitun wrote in to note that a trailer playing on On Demand in Queens, NY has an interesting spoiler for the film (stop reading now if you don’t wanna know).
He writes, “I happened to read the description of the movie and was
surprised to read something along the lines of: “After working with a
specimen from the moon, Peter Parker realizes his new costume has a
    life of its own…’” Interesting.

    300

Frank Miller sat down for a chat
with Comics2FIlm, where he talked about bringing another project to the
silver screen. “It’s really hard to tell,” Miller said about what was
most satisfying to see translated. “The darker part of me would be when
they start to push the dead soldiers on the immortals. It’s so
perfectly realized, but the combat stuff is pretty stunning. There are
hundreds of images that I just looked at and, if I have to pick an
ultimate favorite it’s the shot of the boy stabbing the spear and
seeing the shadow of the wolf with the spear going through his mouth.
That was one of my favorite panels that I drew and he captured it to
    perfection.”

    INVINCIBLE

    Right here at CBR,
creator Robert Kirkman noted a movie version of his teen hero is in
development. “I’ve turned in the first draft of the screenplay and
people seem to like it. Other than that, nothing to report.” Thanks to
Mike Dano for reminding us of that one.

    30 DAYS OF NIGHT

Ghost House Pictures has posted a seventh behind the scenes clip from the Steve Niles adaptation, this time discussing having “Hard Candy” editor Art Jones on board.

    HEROES

According to the Hollywood Reporter, “Melrose Place” veteran Rena Sofer has landed a recurring role on the NBC superhuman drama, playing the wife of an aspiring politician.

    IRON MAN

Director Jon Favreau was interviewed on KCRW, and audio versions are available in multiple formats.

    HELLBOY

There’s an article at IESB which has some looks at the animated Hellboy and discusses the differences in the depiction.

    SMALLVILLE

MSN has an inside look at the series, while Kryptonsite has a new promotional gallery showing Aaron Ashmore as Jimmy Olsen. Nice sweater vest. Meanwhile, Devoted to Smallville has captured a new promotional banner ad for the show (and “Supernatural”), as well as an MP3 of a radio ad for the season premiere.

    KEEPING IT REEL

    Here’s where you
get in on the action. Did you see a link we didn’t catch? Have you
snuck into a closed movie set, and have inside data? Maybe your cousin
is dating somebody who knows something, and they had to tell you?
Whatever it is, we wanna know it all —
