This October, writer J. Michael Straczynski (Superman, Wonder Woman, Babylon 5, “Changeling”) and artist Shane Davis (Green Lantern, Superman/Batman) will take readers on a journey both familiar and new – a story of a last son looking for meaning amidst the skyscrapers and teeming crowds of a great metropolis.
This is a Superman for the 21st century.
With SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE, Straczynski and Davis inject the folk tale and legend that is Superman’s origin with a modern, vital and forward-looking energy that makes for a refreshing, epic and challenging super-hero adventure.
In SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE – the first original graphic novel retelling Superman’s origin — Clark Kent is a man looking for meaning in a new city and an age of failing newspapers, hand-held devices and instant gratification. But when you can fly through the sky and burn objects with a glance – things become a tad more complicated. Doubly so when a fleet of alien ships arrive on your doorstep.
SUPERMAN: EARTH ONE channels the best tales of Superman with a look toward the future, by two of the brightest talents the industry has to offer. We’ve got a first look at the graphic novel below. Prepare to be wowed.
The Walking Dead Season 2 is Official – ComicBookMovie.com

AWESOME!
The Walking Dead Season 2 is Official
The Walking Dead Season 2 is OfficialFilming is set for early next year and Frank Darabont reveals his plans on what to expect
Fangoria insiders have dug up the undead news that after a short 6 episode first season of The Walking Dead – which debuts this Halloween, we’re set for more than double that zombie deliciousness and it’s coming soon.Filming is set to begin in February, 2011 with no official television debut set for the AMC show’s second season, but producer Gale Anne Hurd also confirms that the series will expand to a set 13 episode season. This is to be expected as many of these harder edge shows run around that length.
Producer/Director Frank Darabont also spoke on his plans for season 2 stating he would love to include some of the environmental elements from volume 2 of series creator Robert Kirkman’s epic comic.
“It would be great not just to get out of the heat, but to present a different idea to the audience visually and tonally by having it be winter. There’s some really cool stuff that Kirkman did, where they find the one zombie that’s frozen to the ground. I’d never seen that before and that’s really cool.” said Darabont.
He went on to say that he’s probably most excited introduce one of the fans and perhaps one of his favorite series characters into the foray possibly as early as next season, even though the comic series waits a little later on.
“Or when Michonne shows up – and boy, is she a character I can’t wait to get to – when she comes striding out of the wasteland like a Clint Eastwood f***ing spaghetti western character cross-melded with some samurai movie, like the Baby Cart character with the f***ing sword, and there’s just a little drift of snow in the air. I would love to put that on film.” said Darabont.

DC Universe: The Source » Blog Archive » Marc Guggenheim joins up with the JUSTICE SOCIETY OF AMERICA
There are those evil words again “new direction”, didn’t they just do
that this month with JSA? After what happened with Action Comics, I am surprised
to see Guggenheim working for DC again.
Wednesday, July 14th, 2010By Alex Segura
This October, the Justice Society of America is getting a new chairman. And, by “chairman,” we mean a new writer: Marc Guggenheim. Guggenheim, who has a long list of film and comic book credits, will bring his fast-paced storytelling and refined eye to one of the DCU’s most legendary teams.
We’ll have more info on the new artist joining Guggenheim for his run, but we can announce superstar Shane Davis will be providing the lovely covers, like the powerful image above. What more can we say about the new direction? Well, take it away, Marc:
“For me, one of the advantages of working for “the Big Two” is getting to play with the biggest toys in the sandbox. The Justice Society so fits that category, my inner fanboy is squealing with delight. I was a huge fan of the JSA back when they were ensconced on Earth-2 and I was introduced to their exploits in the pages of Adventure Comics and the annual JLA/JSA crossovers. I’m equally thrilled to be working with Scott Kollins. Scott and I were supposed to collaborate on another project years ago, but fate intervened and I’m glad to finally be getting the opportunity to work with him. Our goal is to craft as JSA run for the ages and I think we’ve come up with something that’s revolutionary while still feeling uniquely “Justice Society.” Pay close attention to that second word. Big clue there.”

So You Want To Be An Atlantan Zombie…
Submitted by Rich Johnston on May 28, 2010 – 1:31 pm (4) commentsThe Walking Dead begins filming in Atlanta on June 2nd in the Fairlie-Poplar District of the city.
Scenes from the pilot and the second episode will be filmed in the daytime on the weekends of June 11th–13th and July 2–4. Walton, Forsyth and Poplar Streets will be partially closed from 7pm on the Fridays till 5am on the Mondays.
And they need zombies. Which is why they have azombie school. If you reckon you’ve got the chops to be undead from June till September, email twdextras@gmail.com.
As I must have told everyone by now, I was a zombie extra on Shaun Of The Dead, along with Andy Diggle, Ryan Richards and Natalie Sandells. It was a great day out, I can see myself lurching every time I see the movie and I must have freaked a couple of people on the bus back home, with some of the makeup still remaining.
We didn’t need a zombie school. It probably just came naturally.

DC Universe: The Source » Blog Archive » DC Comics pairs with TASCHEN on comprehensive DC history book
Filed under: Comic Book News, Coming Soon, DC Comics, Press Releases
Monday, May 17th, 2010By Alex Segura
Got some news for you, gang. Ready?
DC Comics has joined forces with TASCHEN, the book publisher known for its eye for quality, modern design aesthetic and high-end art books spotlighting every aspect of culture: from art and movies to lifestyle and comics, to produce an ultra-comprehensive, extra large book so impressive, even super heroes may have trouble lifting it.
Clocking in at nearly 15 pounds and with over 650 pages (all details are still to be confirmed), 75 Years of DC Comics: The Art of Modern Mythmaking features more than 1,500 images — including covers, interiors, original illustrations, photos, film stills and collectibles — using the latest digital reproduction technology to bring you the characters, stories and the creators that brought them to life as they’ve never been seen before.
And the man behind the story, telling the tales? None other than Paul Levitz, former DC Comics Publisher and upcoming LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES and ADVENTURE COMICS writer. Paul’s in-depth essays trace the history of DC Comics, from its pulpy beginnings to the modern era.
The book also features massive fold-out timelines and an in-depth appendix that includes bios on artists, writers, editors, publishers and actors — what more do you need to know before this gets an automatic spot on your wish list? I was sold before I even started writing this here blog post.
Stay tuned to The Source for more details.

Jeff Lemire takes on SUPERBOY ongoing seriesFriday, May 14th, 2010
By Alex Segura
It’s the kind of thing that pops into your head and just clicks – who’s better suited to pen the adventures of a super-teen in middle America than Jeff Lemire, author of the touching, evocative ESSEX COUNTY and Vertigo’s SWEET TOOTH?
So, it makes perfect sense to announce today that Jeff Lemire, along with artist Pier Gallo, will be launching a SUPERBOY ongoing series later this year, with a special, one-off co-feature debuting in the August issue of ACTION COMICS (#892), which will give fans a primer for the full series.
What can readers expect from Lemire and Gallo? Well, let’s check in with the writer himself. Take it away, Jeff:
“I am really excited to be taking over the adventures of Conner Kent/Superboy in a new monthly series! The book will combine many of the classic touchstones of the Superboy mythos along with new supporting characters, new villains and new ideas, building a strong foundation that can support the Boy of Steel for years to come. I really want to work with our amazing artist Pier Gallo to combine a classic storytelling feel with a thoroughly modern sensibility and explore what it would really be like to be a super powered teenager, in the heart of rural America.”
And because it’s not a SOURCE announcement without some lovely art, here’s a look at one of Gallo’s prelim sketches of the Boy of Steel:
